Australian Perth Mint Lunar Rabbit 1/2 oz Silver Bullion Coin
This is the 4th coin in a set of 12. The Perth Mint’s Lunar Series III began with the Year of the Mouse (2020), with one coin being released each year.
The Rabbit is the fourth of all zodiac animals. According to one myth, the Jade Emperor said the order would be decided by the order in which they arrived to his party.
Auspicious symbols of strength
The strengths of the 12 animals of the lunar calendar are said to be evident in those born during their rule. Fourth in line after the mouse, ox and tiger, the rabbit is said to bestow intelligence, creativity, vigilance and compassion on those born under its influence in 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, 2011 and 2023.
Struck from 99.99% pure silver, these Australian legal tender coins would make an ideal gift for parents who had a child born during lunar year of rabbit
The coin portrays an alert rabbit with its ears erect and another rabbit stretching towards a budding branch. Included in the design is the Chinese character for ‘rabbit’, the inscription ‘RABBIT 2023’ and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.
The obverse depicts the Jody Clark effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the coin’s weight, purity and monetary denomination.
AUTHENTICATION FEATURE
For additional peace of mind, this 1/2oz coin incorporates an authentication feature in the form of a micro-laser engraved letter. Detectable under a magnifying glass, it is designed to make it significantly more difficult for the coin to be counterfeited.
